Having spent twenty-seven years on the Yorkshire moors where the light was often subdued and overcast, I arrived in Australia and was immediately struck by its brilliance and by the intense blue skies and seas.

A constant source of inspiration for my paintings is the continually changing moods of the sea and the quiet wetlands and inland waterways with their abundance of bird life. The Australian Outback has also inspired me with colours that vibrate in the morning and evening light – bright reds, oranges and purples contrast with the deep blue of the sky. In spring, the Outback comes alive, bursting into a brilliant carpet of colour.

Australia is a land I truly love and I am passionate about capturing its unique, breathtaking scenery.

I usually paint with acrylics on good quality stretched canvases. My style and technique varies and I respond to my subject matter with very realistic to semi-abstract images.

It is my desire to produce paintings that you will find uplifting and will add peace and serenity to your environment.

Testimonials

It was such a pleasant surprise to find your history and contact request attached to the back of Wading Ibis when I brought it home today. … I love the image and the setting and I’m already enjoying it. I like to imagine that I can just barely hear the water rippling and just barely make out the slight movements of the birds that are causing the ripples. I get a strong sense of knowing the place, of having been there before; or maybe it’s reminiscent of so many places like it that I’ve seen in my life.

Your floral painting that now graces my sitting room, delights me every day. I could not have wished for a lovelier vision of beauty!
Don

Interested to see that you came from West Yorkshire! We loved the two years we spent living and working in Wetherby and Leeds in 1996/97. With best wishes and thanks for a beautiful painting.

My twin sister and I love your work so much that she’s also buying your Seagulls prints.
Di

I am an old scholar of Westminster School and the areas you have painted mean so much to me – as I swim the waters and walk along the beach. Thank you for capturing the true magic of Seacliff and Brighton.
Rick

Just a short note to tell you how much we are enjoying your painting, Evening Flight. We have a holiday home on Lake Mulwala on the NSW border – this painting is so appropriate for this area and the tonings are quite beautiful.

My husband, Bruce, is a one-eyed AFL supporter and saw this work of art in the Qantas Lounge in Adelaide whilst waiting for his flight back to Melbourne. He took the details and did a small print out on the computer. As a result, it is now hanging in our Mulwala home – for everyone to enjoy. We’ve had so many comments in the short time it’s been there – all very complimentary!

Anita and I are thrilled to have purchased a Valerie Jordan original. We will treasure the painting and it will take pride of place in our new home which we are soon building.

I also have Seagulls and Surf that you painted. Both works are perfect for my home. Thank you.
John

Just love this painting. We have a beach house at Port Elliot and this is where it will reside with Franz Kemp’s Coorong in Winter and some of Clapsom’s lovely work from Kangaroo Island. Thank you so much for this as we adore this area.
Des

I love the beach and hope one day to live by the sea. This painting gives me hope.
Sharon

The seagulls were so striking when we walked in the gallery, we couldn’t resist. Beautiful, crisp colours. We have a house we use on weekends, Glenelg North, where the paintings will live. Keep up your beautiful work.

Our Misty Morning scene looks superb in our Goolwa bedroom and is frequently commented on. If you should be down that way, you would be most welcome to call in.
Betty

Your print is hanging where I can see it each morning when having breakfast. A very relaxing way to start the day.
