This painting is a response to the many times I have flown over the Australian outback on my way to Darwin, Alice Springs and Cairns. From the window, I was mesmerized by the brilliant, rich hues and vastness of the land beneath me. The creams, reds, browns and blues of the ancient river beds, salt lakes, gnarled ranges and red plains contrast with the sparse vegetation struggling to survive
